Why We Are Here?

This group was started for the very reasons you see in the picture above. Those are good kids who only want an opportunity to "play their sport" like any other kid is allowed in Arkansas City. The problem they all face every day though is that of having a lack of area in which to practice. The city had given no options to them and proceded in making stricter rules against them. Did they rebel? Did they quit and go home (as some had told them to do)? Did they whine and cry about the world being unfair? The answer to all of these questions is no, they did not. They organized! Now they are closer to attaining their dream then ever before. After working and compromising long and hard with the police department, city officials, business owners and the recreation commission they have been granted access to skate in a few public areas, they have a wonderful town wanting to help support them and they are close to getting the park they so desperately need. The road hasn't always been smooth to this point and they aren't to the top of the hill yet but they have proven to the community that they are not quitters and they will see this through to the end. So again I ask why is there a need for this group? The answer is simple, it's for the kids.
